ADVANCED LASER & LIGHT TECHNOLOGY

Laser Treatments in Lytham

We use different laser and light technologies because no single device is right for every concern. From long-term hair reduction and clearer, more even-looking skin to tattoo removal, your treatment will be carefully selected following a professional consultation and skin assessment.

Our clinic offers triple-wave diode laser for hair removal, IPL for pigmentation, redness, thread veins and acne, and Nd:YAG laser for tattoo removal. Patch testing is completed where required, giving us time to assess your skin and choose safe, appropriate settings before beginning treatment.

What Would You Like Help With?

Laser Hair Removal

Our triple-wave diode laser combines three wavelengths to target hair at different depths within the skin. It offers effective, long-term hair reduction for the face and body, with treatment plans adapted to your skin tone, hair type and treatment area.

IPL Skin Treatments

IPL uses carefully controlled pulses of light to improve pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, facial redness, rosacea, thread veins and acne. Treatment is tailored to what we see in your skin, helping it look clearer, calmer and more even.

Tattoo Removal

Our Nd:YAG laser breaks tattoo pigment into tiny particles that your body can gradually clear. Each tattoo is assessed individually, taking its colours, depth, age and density into account before we recommend a treatment plan.

SAFE, CONSIDERED TREATMENT

Every Laser Journey Starts With an Assessment

Laser and light treatments are never one-size-fits-all. Before treatment, we assess your skin, medical history, current medication and the concern you would like us to address. For tattoo removal, we will also examine the ink colours, depth and density. For hair removal, we consider your skin tone, hair colour and pattern of growth.

We complete a patch test using carefully selected settings and allow time for your skin to respond before your first full treatment. We will explain the likely number of sessions, expected results, aftercare and full cost before you decide whether to continue.

LASER & LIGHT TREATMENT FAQs

How do I know which treatment I need?

Our triple-wave diode laser is used for long-term hair reduction on the face and body. IPL is used for pigmentation, sun damage, age spots, freckles, redness, rosacea, thread veins and acne. Our Nd:YAG laser is used for tattoo removal.

You do not need to know which treatment or technology to book. Tell us what you would like help with and we will assess the area before recommending the most suitable option.

Is IPL the same as laser?

No. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light and can be adapted to address concerns such as pigmentation, redness, thread veins and acne. Our diode and Nd:YAG devices use specific laser wavelengths for hair reduction and tattoo removal.

Will I need a course of treatments?

Most laser and IPL treatments require more than one session, but the reason differs for each concern.

Laser hair removal is only effective when the hair is in its active growth phase and still connected to the follicle. As only a proportion of hairs are in this phase at any one time, treatments are spaced apart so we can target new groups of actively growing hair at each appointment.

Tattoo removal also happens gradually. The laser breaks down a layer of pigment during each session, then your body needs time to clear those particles before we treat the area again.

For IPL, the number of sessions depends on what we are treating and how your skin responds. Some people notice an improvement after one appointment, while pigmentation, redness, thread veins or acne may benefit from a course followed by occasional maintenance. We will explain the likely number and timing of treatments during your consultation.

Why do I need a patch test?

A patch test allows us to observe how your skin responds and helps us select suitable treatment settings. It is an important part of delivering laser and light treatments safely and is completed 48 hours before your full appointment.

Are laser and IPL treatments painful?

The sensation depends on the treatment, the area being treated and your individual sensitivity.

Our triple-wave diode has built-in cooling that cools and helps numb the skin immediately before and after each pulse of laser energy. Most areas are very manageable, although intimate areas can naturally feel more sensitive.

IPL is usually described as a brief warm flick against the skin. Certain areas or strongly pigmented and vascular concerns may feel a little sharper, but each pulse is over very quickly.

Tattoo removal is more uncomfortable without anaesthetic, although most people find it bearable because the laser works quickly. Areas with less soft tissue, including the fingers, hands, feet and ankles, can feel more sensitive. For clients who are particularly worried about discomfort, Independent Nurse Prescriber Kate can administer local anaesthetic injections. Once the lidocaine has taken effect, the tattoo can be treated with little or no discomfort from the laser itself.

Can all skin tones be treated?

Many laser treatments can be performed on darker skin tones, but we need to work more cautiously because the skin contains more melanin, which can also absorb the laser or light energy. This increases the risk of burns and temporary or lasting changes in pigmentation.

We may need to use lower settings, allow longer intervals and complete more sessions to achieve the result safely. IPL is not suitable for every skin tone or concern, so we will assess your skin carefully and complete a patch test before confirming treatment. We will always be honest if a particular treatment is not appropriate for your skin.

Can I have treatment if I have a suntan?

Laser and IPL treatments may need to be postponed if your skin is recently tanned or has had significant sun exposure. This includes natural tanning and artificial tanning products. Please tell us about any recent sun exposure before your patch test or appointment.

Is there any downtime?

Downtime depends on the treatment and the area being treated. Laser hair removal usually causes only temporary warmth or redness around the follicles, which often settles quickly.

After IPL, the skin may feel warm and look slightly red. Pigmented areas can temporarily darken before gradually flaking away, while treated vessels may look more noticeable before fading.

Tattoo removal can cause localised redness, swelling, whitening or “frosting” of the tattoo, and occasionally blistering. We use a specialist artificial-skin patch during treatment to absorb and disperse heat, helping to reduce unnecessary heat trauma to the surrounding skin. The area may still need several days to settle and must be cared for properly while it heals.

We will explain what to expect for your particular treatment and provide clear written aftercare.
