Not All Dermal Fillers Are the Same
A filler designed to provide structure and support behaves very differently from a softer, more flexible gel used in an area of natural movement. The most suitable product depends on where it will be placed, the depth of treatment, the quality of the surrounding tissue and what we want the treatment to achieve.
I use a carefully selected range of premium dermal fillers, allowing me to choose the texture, flexibility and level of support that best suit each area of your face. 1 - Your Consultation
Your consultation is your time to share what you are seeing when you look in the mirror, how it makes you feel and what you hope to achieve. I’ll assess your face as a whole, talk you through what would suit your individual features and create a treatment plan that feels completely personal to you. You’ll never be rushed or pressured into making a decision.
2 - Your Treatment
Your treatment appointment will feel calm, unhurried and centred around you. We’ll begin by confirming the plan together and answering any questions you may have. For most dermal filler treatments, consultation and treatment can be completed in one visit, although there is never any pressure to go ahead that day. From keeping you comfortable during treatment to guiding you through your aftercare, you’ll feel cared for every step of the way.
3 - Aftercare & Review
You’ll leave the clinic knowing what to expect and how to care for the treated area. As your result settles, the clinic is here if you have any questions or need reassurance. We can then review your result, celebrate the changes you love and plan how to maintain them in a way that continues to feel natural and right for you.
Dermal Filler Questions
Will I still look like myself after dermal fillers?
Yes. My approach is centred around refreshing your appearance, not changing it. I work with your natural anatomy, respecting what nature intended, and use the least amount of product needed to create a meaningful result.
For larger full-face treatment plans, I usually work in stages rather than treating everything at once. Where appropriate, we begin with the areas that restore support, often within the upper and mid-face, and allow those results to settle before reassessing. This lets us see how much positive change has already been achieved before deciding together whether any further volume is genuinely needed. It is a careful, conservative approach that helps preserve your natural character while creating a balanced result.
How long do dermal filler results last?
As a general guide, dermal filler results usually last between 6 and 18 months, although this varies depending on the area treated, the product selected and how your individual body responds.
Dermal filler placed around the mouth may reduce sooner because this is a highly dynamic area that is constantly active when we speak, smile and eat. A softer, more flexible product is usually selected here so your expressions remain natural.
Jawline filler often lasts longer because a firmer, more structurally supportive product is placed at a deeper level to create definition and replicate the support normally provided by bone. During your consultation, I’ll explain what you can realistically expect from each area and how we can maintain your result without it becoming excessive or overdone.
Do dermal fillers hurt?
Most patients find dermal filler treatment far more manageable than they expected. Your comfort matters, so I’ll talk you through everything before we begin and use appropriate measures such as numbing cream, dermal fillers containing lidocaine and gentle injection techniques. We’ll take the appointment at your pace, with time to pause whenever you need. Some areas naturally feel more sensitive than others, but you’ll be supported and carefully looked after throughout. And, reassuringly, nobody has ever needed to make a run for the door.
What downtime should I expect after dermal filler?
Most of my patients experience very little downtime. I use gentle techniques and carefully selected dermal fillers to keep tissue trauma to a minimum. Cheek and jawline treatments do not usually cause significant swelling, and most people feel comfortable returning to their normal day immediately afterwards.
The lips and perioral area are more likely to swell, but this is usually subtle rather than something that makes you want to hide at home. Think more along the lines of having applied a lip-plumping gloss. As I don’t create excessively large lips, this also helps keep swelling more manageable.
Dermal filler can take up to four weeks to fully settle and integrate with the surrounding tissue. During this time, you may notice some firmness when touching the treated area, although this process is not usually visible to anyone else. Bruising is possible with any injectable treatment and can be more common around the marionette area because it is particularly vascular. You’ll receive clear aftercare advice and support throughout the settling process.
Are dermal fillers safe?
Dermal fillers have a well-established safety profile when appropriate products are used by an experienced medical practitioner, but no injectable treatment is completely without risk. Your safety is never treated as an afterthought.
Before treatment, I’ll carefully assess your medical history, suitability and individual facial anatomy. I use premium, traceable products, meticulous hygiene and techniques chosen to reduce unnecessary trauma. The clinic has clear complication-management protocols and the appropriate emergency medicines, including hyaluronidase, should they ever be needed. You’ll be fully informed before making a decision and supported after your appointment, so you never feel that your care ends when you leave the treatment room.
What if I know what I'd like to improve, but not which treatment I need?
You know your face better than anyone, and your consultation begins with what you would like help with. You don’t need to know the name of the treatment or decide which area should be treated before you arrive.
I’ll listen to what you hope to achieve, assess your individual features and talk you through the options that could help you reach that goal. I’ll explain what each approach can realistically offer, answer your questions and help you make a decision that feels right for you. You remain in control of your treatment plan at every stage.
